The Boohoo Group-owned Debenhams.com has opened a beauty store at Manchester Arndale shopping centre. The two-floor, 7,552sq ft store’s design includes interactive screens and displays of social media posts in real time. Debenhams.com homeware and beauty director, Jeanette Whithear, said: “We are delighted to be opening Debenhams.com Beauty store, within the Manchester Arndale, especially as this is the home of the Boohoo Group…With the next step of Debenhams.com Beauty journey, I’m excited to see the cross over from our digital and physical elements come to life within the space as well as our range of brands increase dramatically into 2022.”
LEISURE

Locally-based hospitality brands have joined the retail and leisure lineup at the new Brent Cross Town mixed residential development. Argent Related and Barnet Council’s 180-acre neighbourhood includes Karma Bread Bakery and Cricklewood Coffee Roasters. The brands offer employment and training opportunities to support local economic development.

Property

Shaftesbury has reported a strong year, having added over 60 new retail and leisure brands to its portfolio since October 2020. Many new signings, including Aerie, Third Man Records and American Eagle, were opening their first UK stores. Nine of the new signings were online brands making their first move into physical retail. Retail director Samantha Bain-Mollison said: “The level and quality of demand for space from such great brands and concepts reflects the strength of our portfolio and speed of its recovery following the lifting of pandemic restrictions.”

Openings 

Levantine restaurant Ceru has opened a new site in London’s Queensway; Bookings will open in January for Roji, a 10-seat counter-style Japanese restaurant in Mayfair; ‘Multi-cuisine kitchen and grocer’ Neyba is to open in Notting Hill; Delivery-only pizza brand Gallio is opening its first bricks and mortar site in Canary Wharf; Middle Eastern restaurant Jeru is to open in Mayfair this month; Bavarian restaurant and bar Albert’s Schloss will open in Birmingham’s Paradise development; Caribbean restaurant and cocktail bar Boiler & Co will open in London’s Southwark this month.
