Data Scientist

We are looking for a Data Scientist to be part of a growing team which is responsible for supporting the Local Data Company’s proprietary software and technology. The technology team focuses on a range of strategic projects which play a vital role in the development of products and services which underpin the Local Data Company’s proposition in the market.

The ideal candidate will have the skillset to be able to intricately run analytical experiments, evaluate alternate models using theoretical approaches and implement end-to-end solutions including data collection, preparation, processing and modelling. Data visualization and meaningful interpretation of findings is an important part of this role.

the role

One of the main responsibilities for this role is extracting stories from proprietary and third-party data by applying machine learning, mathematical and statistical modelling. This role will also work closely with footfall data and will take responsibility for maintaining footfall data integrity.

Essential Skills

  • Python (including NumPy and Pandas)
  • Jupyter notebooks or similar
  • SQL (preferably Microsoft SQL Server)
  • Ability to use machine learning to solve real-world problems
  • Strong mathematics and statistics skills
  • Working knowledge of version control software (Git) and best practices
  • Data visualization and communication skills
  • Ability to quickly grasp business requirements and communicate with business stakeholders
  • Good communication

Desirable Skills

  • Spark/PySpark
  • Databricks
  • Azure data factory or similar
  • Azure storage (SQL, Cosmos DB, Blob storage)
