The Mayor of London has announced proposals to invest a further £10m into attracting tourists back to the city. The funding includes an additional investment into the ‘Let’s Do London’ initiative which, according to the Mayor of London’s office, has driven 280,000 visitors and £70m in spending so far. Investments will be made into an international marketing campaign to bring back tourists from around the world. UKHospitality chief executive Kate Nicholls said: “Visitors to London go on to spend over £640m in local economies outside of the capital… so this benefits the whole of the country… Initiatives that help drive footfall such as this will be vital to our recovery.”

LEISURE

Wagamama has launched a new delivery concept in London and Leeds, targeted at both home and office workers. The BOX lunch boxes are available via Deliveroo, including light dishes, sides and soft drinks. Following a successful trial period, BOX will be available from delivery kitchens in Bow, Balham, Forest Hill, Hackney, Old Street, Peckham, Sutton and Walthamstow, as well as in Leeds. Wagamama is also looking to target large corporate orders and catering opportunities.

PROPERTY

Landlord Segro has announced a boost in profits driven by demand for warehouse space. Ecommerce companies and food delivery groups have contributed to an almost 30 per cent rise in the valuation of Segro’s portfolio. Segro chief executive David Sleath added: “It’s not all about ecommerce. We’re doing a lot of space for data centres, film studio deals with Netflix [and] food production and distribution companies like Hello Fresh.”
